He grew up in a middle class neighbourhood. He was raised by his father, his mother having left when he was young.
He is currently in a relationship with Kasia Jo-Anne Mullins. Kasia is the same age as him and works as a student.
James's best friend is a medical student called Kelley Rose. They get on well most of the time. He also hangs around with Susie Sheldon and Chrissy Rich. They enjoy working on cars together.
