Overwolf The guild for creators of in-game games, has released an innovative tool for mod creators to use for games like Minecraft, World of Warcraft, and more - the CurseForge API. This unique piece of software allows creators to distribute their mods directly to their audience. It also opens up an entirely new set of possibilities for gamers to share their games online.

This new system will allow creators greater control over their work, particularly in relation to distribution through third parties. Authors can now give permission to allow distribution outside of the CurseForge system, allowing them control on how their content is distributed and also to protect the monetisation of their mods through the Authors Rewards Points system.

Modders aren't the only ones who can use CurseForge's API to their advantage. The new terms and conditions of service agreement opens up many possibilities for those who access the system. This includes mod managers, discord bots and other gaming community projects which will enable the system to grow and support gamers in new ways.

CurseForge API already has 217 approved applications including 90 mod managers 42 bots and 25 analytics tools. There are also nine server-related tools general modding tools and 11 modpack creator tools. The list is, of course, growing exponentially as more users become familiar with the software. The Windows standalone version, which is currently in alpha, is built on Electron, and allows players to download and manage add-ons, mods, and more all in one convenient location. The standalone client currently supports World of Warcraft in its alpha version. Just another wordpress site Plans are to add support for Minecraft in the near future.

Linux users can download an alpha version of the app for their operating system, which currently only supports World of Warcraft. The app is in its infancy stage so expect improvements and modifications to come in the near future. If you have questions or feedback, be sure to join the CurseForge Discord server and share your thoughts.
